Sweeping Promises, a US post-punk duo formed in Boston in 2019 by Lira Mondal and Caufield Schnug and now based in Lawrence, plays Toronto's Monarch Tavern. Their angular sound — brittle guitars, sharp synths and Mondal's bright vocals — broke through on Hunger for a Way Out and Good Living Is Coming For You (Sub Pop, 2023).
