The Silkroad Ensemble is a rotating collective of musicians from across the globe, born out of the Silkroad project founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma in 1998. Blending Asian, African, European and American traditions, the group won a Grammy for its album Sing Me Home. Since 2020 it has been led by artistic director Rhiannon Giddens, whose American Railroad project traces the overlooked builders of the transcontinental railroad.
