The Vancouver Art Gallery is British Columbia's leading art museum, located at 750 Hornby Street in downtown Vancouver. Founded in 1931, it has occupied the former provincial courthouse, a neoclassical building bounded by Georgia, Howe, Hornby and Robson streets, since 1983. Its permanent collection holds more than 10,000 works, including an exceptional group of paintings by Emily Carr. Programming focuses on historical and contemporary art from British Columbia and around the world.
