The Orpheum is a heritage theatre in downtown Vancouver, opened in 1927 as the largest theatre in Canada at the time. Designed by architect Marcus Priteca in a lavish style, it was saved from demolition by a public campaign and bought by the City in 1974. Restored and reopened in 1977, it seats about 2,780 and is home to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. It is a National Historic Site of Canada.
