Canada's first purpose-built opera house, the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts opened in June 2006 at Queen Street West and University Avenue in downtown Toronto. Designed by Toronto firm Diamond Schmitt Architects, its R. Fraser Elliott Hall seats 2,071. The building is home to both the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada.
