A cultural landmark of Old Quebec, the Theatre Capitole faces Place D'Youville in the city's historic core. Opened in 1903 as the Auditorium to designs by American architect Walter Scott Painter, it long operated as the Capitol cinema before reopening in 1992, after major restoration, as a live-performance hall. Its Belle Epoque interior now hosts concerts, comedy, musical theatre and dinner shows, seating roughly 1,100 guests.
