A single-screen cinema at 325 Rideau Street in Ottawa, built by Hyman Berlin and opened on February 10, 1947 as the Nelson Theatre. Renamed the Towne Cinema in 1968, it reopened on October 1, 1988 as the ByTowne with programming built around independent, foreign and repertory film. The room now seats 650 and doubles as a stage for live shows, comedy nights among them.
