A former cinema turned performance hall, the Rialto Theatre stands on Park Avenue in Montreal's Mile End. Built in 1923-24 by architect Raoul Gariepy, it is admired for its facade inspired by the Paris Opera and its rich neo-Baroque interior by Emmanuel Briffa. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1993, it seats about 700 for concerts, comedy and shows.
