Initiated in 1955 and opened in 1963, Place des Arts is Canada's largest cultural complex and the heart of Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles. Its six halls, including the 2,982-seat Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier and the Maison symphonique, seat nearly 8,000 in total. It is home to the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Opera de Montreal and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
