New City Gas occupies a massive 19th-century industrial complex in Montreal's Griffintown. Built in 1859 to turn coal into gas for the city's street lighting, the building was recognized as a heritage landmark and converted into a nightclub and event venue, opening in May 2012. Spanning more than 40,000 square feet over two floors, this cornerstone of Montreal nightlife hosts electronic music's biggest names in an atmosphere blending history with excess.
