Standing 60 metres above Bonsecours Basin Island in Montreal's Old Port, La Grande Roue is the tallest observation wheel in Canada. It opened on 1 September 2017 for the city's 375th anniversary and turns year-round, with 42 glazed, climate-controlled cabins. A ride lasts about twenty minutes and takes in Old Montreal, the St. Lawrence River and Mount Royal, with views reaching some thirty kilometres on a clear day.
