Opened in 1983, Les Foufounes Electriques is a cornerstone of Montreal's counterculture, in the heart of the Quartier Latin on Sainte-Catherine Street East. A cradle of Quebec's punk, ska, metal and alternative-rock scenes, it hosted now-legendary acts such as Nirvana and Green Day early in their careers. Part bar, terrace and concert hall, it remains one of the city's best-known underground music dens.
