Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel on rue Saint-Paul is one of Old Montreal's oldest sites. Marguerite Bourgeoys, founder of the Congregation of Notre-Dame, led the building of the first stone chapel, completed in 1678; the present chapel dates from 1771. Known as the sailors' chapel for the model ships hanging from its vaults, it houses the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum and an archaeological crypt.
