Bonsecours Market is a Neoclassical landmark in Old Montreal, completed in 1847 to designs by architect William Footner. Long the city's main public market, it briefly housed the Parliament of United Canada in 1849 and later Montreal's city hall. Designated a National Historic Site in 1984, it now serves as an event hall and gallery, hosting exhibitions, banquets and festivals along the St. Lawrence River.
