The largest multi-purpose facility in Atlantic Canada, the Scotiabank Centre sits in downtown Halifax on Argyle Street. Opened in 1978 as the Halifax Metro Centre and partly built into the ground to suit the sloping site, it was renamed in 2014. Seating about 10,600, it hosts hockey, concerts, shows and major gatherings, including the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
