The Edmonton Convention Centre is a major convention centre in downtown Edmonton, remarkably built into the river valley hillside so that about 70 percent of its space sits underground. Opened in 1983 and known as the Shaw Conference Centre from 1997 to 2018, it offers over 144,000 square feet of exhibition space, four halls, some twenty meeting rooms and a ballroom, hosting concerts, festivals and large events.
