Calgary's oldest surviving movie theatre, on 8th Avenue SW, the Palace opened in 1921 for film, vaudeville and concerts and hosted the city's first public radio broadcast. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1997, it now operates as an event and concert venue holding about 1,200 people.
