A large multi-purpose hall on Stampede Park in Calgary, opened in 1959 and named for the Big Four: Pat Burns, George Lane, A. E. Cross and A. J. Maclean, the ranchers who bankrolled the first Stampede. Its 118,000 square feet across two split levels began life as a curling rink; with 48 sheets by 1960 it was the largest indoor curling facility in the world. It served as the media centre for the 1988 Winter Olympics and now works as an exhibition hall, concert room and party space through Stampede season.
