TouringBee turns a smartphone into the guide for a solo walk across Toronto, on a route built to take in the city quickly. The app shows the way on a map, leading through downtown from New City Hall to the waterfront and past the main sights. Landmarks along the line include Old City Hall, Canada's Walk of Fame, St. Andrew's Church, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Gooderham Building and the CN Tower. Twenty-five stops make up the tour, and the commentary is written by professional journalists and historians with a streak of humour and an obvious taste for travel. Once the tour is downloaded the app runs offline, and the narration stays clear through headphones. With no group to follow, the pace is yours: stories and legends between stops, a break in a cafe, a detour down a picturesque alley, then back to the walk.
