About this event

Explore the dark side of Old Town Toronto through this self-guided outdoor game, powered by the free Questo app. Download it, make your way to Nathan Phillips Square and set off whenever you like: no guide, no schedule, no waiting. The city you think you know is not the one you'll find here. This

10-stop walking game, lasting about 75 minutes, covers 3 km through Toronto's historic core and untangles very real stories hidden in plain sight: 710 public hangings beneath the King Edward Hotel, 118 lives claimed by the fire aboard a cruise ship, a ghost that haunts the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the shocking laws that jailed women deemed "incorrigible." At each landmark, a puzzle-style challenge unlocks the next chapter. You make your way past Old City Hall, the TD Centre, the Fairmont Royal York, St. James Cathedral and St. Lawrence Market, each one holding a story that Toronto's official record would rather leave unsaid. Solve the riddles, follow the clues and grasp why Old Town Toronto is far stranger and darker than it looks. Suitable for ages 14 and up, with no experience required at all.
