About this event

Quebec City's lesser-known past is the subject of this walking tour led by a local historian and researcher. The city is the birthplace of French culture in North America and still the proud capital and stronghold of “l'accent d'Amérique”, yet its streets hold a far more tangled story than the usual textbook version. European wars of religion, the World Wars, the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Patriot Rebellion all left their mark here, through people and events that rarely get discussed. With more than ten years of experience, your guide uses genealogy to link individual lives to the bigger picture, uncovering the people, conflicts, migrations and ideas behind the Quebec of today. The route covers about 3 km of narrow streets and is aimed at academically curious travellers who enjoy lively discussion.
