Toronto Island is the only island chain in Western Lake Ontario. It holds a diverse collection of plants and wildlife and carries deep history dating back to the first Native American people. Did you know that the location for Toronto, then called York, was chosen because of the prime natural harbour created by Toronto Island, which was a peninsula at the time? Wards and Algonquin Island are among the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, and some of their descendants are still here today. It is against this backdrop, rich in nature and history, that the experience takes place, on the setting shaped by these long-storied islands.
