About this event

Vancouver was once home to a flourishing Black community, and that is a story worth knowing. This immersive walk through Strathcona and the former Hogan's Alley brings to light the untold histories of British Columbia's earliest Black settlers, following the threads of their migration, resilience, and enduring cultural mark. The experience weaves together archival materials, primary documents, and lived experience to make the past come vividly alive. Guests are given access to a digital archive of photographs and historic articles, drawn from extensive research within British Columbia's archives. You will be invited to consider how these histories connect with the present-day realities of Black Canadians, and with our shared humanity. Far more than a tour, this is a journey of remembrance and understanding, carried out with warmth, professionalism, and a passion for truth. Each step blends rare academic insight, emotionally rich storytelling, and five-star hospitality, making for a meaningful and memorable experience for visitors and locals alike.
