About this event

Walking tour devoted to the ancient big trees of Vancouver, described as the only one of its kind in the city. Within walking distance of downtown, you're guided by well-known big-tree seeker Colin Spratt through Vancouver's last ancient forest, set within historic Stanley Park. The outing lasts around three hours, long enough to visit giant ancient cedars more than 800 years old, towering firs as tall as skyscrapers, and to learn about the history of the park. Drawing on old maps, postcards over a hundred years old and photographs from Vancouver's archive, you piece together the story of this ancient forest and its urban surroundings. It's a completely unique chance to experience the last remaining part of Vancouver's original ancient landscape, now otherwise lost to time.
