Indian choreographer Aditi Mangaldas — a leading voice of contemporary kathak, trained under Kumudini Lakhia and Pandit Birju Maharaj — presents Forbidden at the Lyric Theatre of Toronto's Meridian Arts Centre. Described by the choreographer as "contemporary dance based on kathak," Forbidden tackles female sexuality and the cultural taboos that surround it. The piece premiered at Mumbai's NCPA in 2022.
