Sports in Canada

Hockey rules the Canadian sports calendar from October to April: the seven NHL clubs play at the Bell Centre (Montreal), Scotiabank Arena (Toronto), Canadian Tire Centre (Ottawa), Canada Life Centre (Winnipeg), Rogers Place (Edmonton), Scotiabank Saddledome (Calgary) and Rogers Arena (Vancouver). The QMJHL and OHL, the PWHL and farm teams like the Marlies at Coca-Cola Coliseum fill out the season. Summer belongs to Blue Jays baseball at Rogers Centre and to minor-league clubs (Vancouver Canadians, Winnipeg Goldeyes, Quebec Capitales), to MLS soccer (Toronto FC, CF Montréal, Whitecaps at BC Place) and to the big annual events: the National Bank Open tennis in Montreal and Toronto, the Calgary Stampede Rodeo, the King's Plate at Woodbine.
