Montreal Show Guide — Summer 2026

Montreal Show Guide — Summer 2026

Montreal in summer is a different city. Patios open up, festivals stack on top of each other, and there's a show on every corner. The problem is there's almost too much going on — hard to know where to start.

This guide is here to help. No tourist fluff, just the useful stuff to plan your outings from June to September 2026.

Must-see festivals

Montreal is the festival capital of Canada. Period. Between the International Jazz Festival (late June - early July), FrancoFolies (mid-June), Osheaga (late July) and Heavy Montreal (August), there's enough to fill every weekend.

Jazz Fest has over 500 concerts, many of them free and outdoors in the Quartier des Spectacles. Osheaga draws international headliners to Parc Jean-Drapeau. FrancoFolies is the French-language scene at its best.

Venues worth knowing

A few venues worth checking out:

  • Centre Bell — the big shows, 21,000 seats. Lady Gaga, the Canadiens, mega-concerts.
  • MTELUS (formerly Métropolis) — the iconic Ste-Catherine Street venue. Perfect for mid-size concerts.
  • Place des Arts — classical, opera, dance, theatre. Five halls under one roof.
  • Club Soda — intimate, standing room, real show vibes.
  • L'Olympia — between Club Soda and MTELUS in size. Great acoustics.

Neighbourhoods for going out

The Quartier des Spectacles (around Place des Arts) has the festivals and big venues. Plateau Mont-Royal and Mile End are where you'll find indie venues and bars with live music. The Old Port hosts outdoor events in summer.

Practical tips

  • Book early — big shows sell fast, especially during festivals
  • Check the weather — many events are outdoors and can be postponed
  • Transit — the metro is your friend. Place-des-Arts station for the Quartier des Spectacles, Jean-Drapeau for Osheaga
  • Budget — plenty of free shows during festivals. Otherwise, expect $40-150 for an average concert
