The band Mark Kozelek launched in San Francisco in 2002, after winding down Red House Painters; the name nods to South Korean boxer Sung-Kil Moon. Sun Kil Moon trades in hushed folk guitar and sprawling, diary-like storytelling, a style that peaked with the widely praised 2014 album Benji. Kozelek issues the records himself through his Caldo Verde Records label, and brings the project across Canada in September 2026.
