Soul Asylum came out of the same Minneapolis punk scene as Hüsker Dü and The Replacements, forming in 1981 and still led by singer-guitarist Dave Pirner. Their 1992 album Grave Dancers Union broke worldwide on the strength of "Runaway Train," which won a Grammy. A 2026 world tour accompanies the live album MPLS Unplugged.
