French pianist Richard Clayderman, born Philippe Pagès in Paris in 1953, broke through in 1977 with Ballade pour Adeline, which sold in the millions. His repertoire mixes original compositions with arrangements of classical pieces and popular songs. One of the best-selling instrumental artists in the world, he still tours across several continents.
