Founded in 1981, the Orchestre Métropolitain was built on the belief that symphonic music thrives on close ties with its audience. Yannick Nézet-Séguin has been its artistic director and principal conductor since 2000, signing a lifetime commitment in 2019. Alongside neighbourhood concerts across Montreal, the orchestra has toured Europe and the United States and played the Concertgebouw and the Philharmonie de Paris.
