Omar Souleyman is a Syrian singer who turned dabke, the celebratory music of northeastern Syria, into a global dance phenomenon. After hundreds of live-recorded wedding cassettes, he broke through internationally with the Four Tet-produced album Wenu Wenu (2013), followed by Bahdeni Nami (2015). His shows, driven by breakneck electronic keyboard lines, are relentless dancefloor rituals.
