Minyo Crusaders

Minyo Crusaders is a large Japanese ensemble formed in Fussa, near Tokyo, in 2011. They reinvent min'yō, Japan's traditional folk singing, by fusing it with cumbia, reggae and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Led by the voice of Freddie Tsukamoto, the roughly twelve-piece collective won a global audience with its album 'Echoes of Japan.' They perform in Montreal and Toronto.
