Mariza

Mariza is a Portuguese fado singer, born in Mozambique in 1973 and raised from age three in Mouraria, one of Lisbon's oldest fado quarters. Her expansive voice carries the tradition of Amalia Rodrigues while reaching toward other influences, and she has become the music's foremost international ambassador. In autumn 2026 she returns to Montreal's Maison symphonique after more than eight years away, and plays Koerner Hall in Toronto on October 31.
