Powered by anthems like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird," the band left a lasting mark on American rock despite the 1977 plane crash that killed singer Ronnie Van Zant. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, they continue to tour today.
