Lyle Lovett

A Texas singer-songwriter born in 1957 in Klein, near Houston, Lyle Lovett has spent his career happily ignoring the borders between country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues. The four-time Grammy winner is inseparable from his Large Band, the horn-and-voices ensemble that gives his songs their big-room swing. His dry wit and storyteller's poise made him a genuine one-off in American music, and he has acted as well, notably in several Robert Altman films.
