Born in Shenyang in 1982, Lang Lang is among the most widely followed pianists of his generation. He trained at Beijing's Central Conservatory and the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, then broke through as a teenager by stepping in at short notice for an ailing soloist near Chicago. He performs with the world's leading orchestras and recorded Bach's Goldberg Variations in 2020.
