Founded in Toronto in 1983 at the initiative of trumpeter Stephen Chenette, the Hannaford Street Silver Band is Canada's leading professional brass band. Built on the British brass-band model of all-brass forces and percussion, it plays its season at the Jane Mallett Theatre and has premiered dozens of Canadian works written for the ensemble.
