Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is an instrumental post-rock collective formed in Montreal in 1994, known for long crescendo-driven pieces, mournful strings and found-voice field recordings. The 2000 album "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven" made them a touchstone of the genre, and "Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!" won the Polaris Music Prize in 2013. Live, they play in near darkness behind hand-made 16 mm film loops.
