Foster the People is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles in 2009 by singer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Foster, who was writing commercial jingles when he uploaded "Pumped Up Kicks" as a free download. The song became a crossover hit in 2011, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and carrying the debut album Torches. Three albums followed — Supermodel, Sacred Hearts Club and 2024's Paradise State of Mind, which the Good Mourning Sunshine tour supports.
