Down

Down is a sludge and Southern metal band formed in New Orleans in 1991 as a side project uniting figures from the city's scene: singer Philip Anselmo (Pantera), guitarists Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity) and Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), drummer Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod) and bassist Pat Bruders. Their 1995 debut NOLA became a cornerstone of the genre. In 2026 the band returns to North America on a headlining tour with Helmet in support.
