DJ Shadow, born Josh Davis in California in 1972, is an American producer and DJ who helped define instrumental hip-hop. His 1996 debut Endtroducing..... was built entirely from sampled records, earning a Guinness World Record as the first album made exclusively from samples. Released on the UK's Mo' Wax label, it remains a touchstone for crate-digging producers. In 2026 he marks the record's 30th anniversary with a North American tour devoted to it.
