Formed in Newark, New Jersey in 1998, dälek (say “die-a-leck”) makes some of the darkest, densest experimental hip-hop around. Led by MC dälek, the group buries its verses under walls of noise and industrial drone, drawing as much from Einstürzende Neubauten and My Bloody Valentine as from Public Enemy. Signed to Ipecac Recordings, they released Gutter Tactics, Endangered Philosophies and, in 2022, Precipice.
