Cortex

Cortex is a French jazz-funk band founded in 1974 by pianist and composer Alain Mion. Its 1975 album Troupeau Bleu became a goldmine for hip-hop producers, sampled by Tyler, The Creator, MF DOOM, Madlib and Kanye West among many others. Still led by Mion, the group returned to North America in 2026 for a tour presented by the Jazz Is Dead label.
