An Oakland rapper and founding member of the Hieroglyphics crew, Casual arrived in the early 1990s alongside Del the Funky Homosapien and Souls of Mischief. His 1994 debut Fear Itself, released on Jive and led by the single I Didn't Mean To, remains a touchstone of Bay Area underground hip-hop and of the crew's independent streak.
