American saxophonist Branford Marsalis was born in New Orleans in 1960, the eldest of a celebrated family of jazz musicians. A three-time Grammy winner, he led The Tonight Show band in the early 1990s and moves fluidly between jazz and the classical repertoire. His quartet, one of the most enduring working bands in jazz, tours North America regularly.
