Bassem Youssef

An Egyptian-American satirist who trained as a heart surgeon, Bassem Youssef rose to fame with Al-Bernameg, a satirical show he launched on YouTube during the 2011 revolution that grew into one of the Arab world's most-watched programmes. Often called Egypt's Jon Stewart, he now lives in the United States and brings political satire on identity and exile to the stage with The Belly of the Beast Tour.
